About The Haven
Here at The Haven, we are a residential care home based in Peacehaven, East Sussex, and we support adults with learning disabilities and autism, including younger adults who need a place to feel genuinely at home rather than simply cared for. We offer both long term residential placements and shorter respite stays, which means we can support people at different points in their lives and give family carers a much needed break when the time comes. Peacehaven is a friendly coastal community and we think that environment matters. Being close to the sea, local amenities and green spaces gives the people we support real opportunities to live full, connected lives rather than being contained within four walls. We want to be straightforward with anyone looking at our home. Our most recent CQC inspection resulted in a requires improvement rating, and we take that seriously. We are actively working through the feedback we received and making the changes needed. We think it is important that families and prospective residents know this rather than gloss over it. What we can tell you is that the people here are committed to doing better, and that work is already underway. What we focus on day to day is getting to know each person properly. People with learning disabilities and autism often have very specific ways of communicating, very particular routines and preferences, and a history that deserves to be understood rather than managed. We try to build genuine relationships and create an atmosphere where people feel safe, respected and able to make choices about their own lives. If you would like to visit The Haven, ask questions or simply have a conversation about whether we might be the right fit for someone you care about, please do get in touch. We are always happy to talk.
