About Fairlight Manor
Fairlight Manor is a residential care home in Peacehaven, close to the coast between Brighton and Newhaven. We support adults who need help with daily living, and a large part of our work is with people living with dementia. We also offer respite stays, which might be a planned break for a family carer, a trial before a permanent move, or a settled place to recover after a period of illness. Our approach to dementia is built on knowing the person rather than the diagnosis. We ask families to tell us about the life behind the person in front of us, the work, the marriages, the music, the animals, the habits and the dislikes, because that history is what helps us understand a restless evening or a refused meal. Routines are kept familiar, and staff are asked to slow down and go at the person's pace instead of the other way round. Beyond that, this is somewhere people live. Meals are cooked here and mealtimes are unhurried. People choose where they spend their day, whether that is in company or somewhere quiet with a view.
