About Jemini Response - 41 Jerome Close
Our home at Jerome Close in Eastbourne is a small residential house supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults. It is a house in an ordinary street, which is exactly what we want it to be. Keeping the place small means everyone knows each other properly, the atmosphere stays calm, and staff notice quickly when somebody is not themselves. People choose how their own room looks, join in with the shopping and cooking if they want to, and have a genuine say in how the household is run. Routines are built around the individual, including the ones that need to stay exactly the same from one day to the next, because predictability is often what allows a person to relax enough to try something new. We agree support with each person using whatever way of communicating already works for them, whether that is speech, signing, pictures or something else, and we learn it properly rather than guessing. Getting out into Eastbourne is part of ordinary life here, whether that means a regular activity during the week, seeing family, or a trip that has become a fixture. Respite stays are available for people who need a short break or whose family carers do. Our most recent rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch if you would like to visit.
