About Hallgarth Care Home
We are Hallgarth, a residential care home in Cottingham. We support older people and younger adults who need help with daily life in a setting that feels domestic rather than clinical. What we provide is residential care rather than nursing care, and we are straightforward with families about that from the first conversation. Within it, we help with washing and dressing, support people with medication, provide proper meals and make sure nobody spends the day alone unless they would rather. We have tried hard to keep the house feeling like a house. People bring their own furniture and pictures, get up when they wake rather than when a schedule says so, and spend their time as they choose. Some want company from morning to night, others prefer their own room, and both are perfectly reasonable. Our staff know the people living here properly, which is how you notice that somebody is quieter than usual or off their food before it turns into something more serious. We keep families informed and would far rather ring with a small concern early than a large one later. Visitors are welcome whenever they want to come. We offer respite stays alongside permanent places, which suits family carers who need a break and people building their strength back after hospital. Our most recent CQC overall rating is good. Please get in touch to arrange a look round.
