About Trafalgar Care Home
We are Trafalgar Care Home in Weymouth. We look after older people, including people living with dementia, people managing a mental health condition, and people with a physical disability or a visual or hearing impairment. What we offer is residential care, and we are plain with families about what that does and does not include, because nobody is well served by moving somewhere that cannot meet their needs. Within that, we help with washing, dressing and moving about safely, support people with their medication, provide proper meals and make sure nobody is left to sit alone all day unless that is their preference. The home runs at the pace of the people in it. Nobody is woken to suit a rota and mealtimes bend around the person. Some residents want company from breakfast onwards, others prefer their own room, and there is no right answer to that. Dementia care here is built on knowing the person rather than managing a condition. We learn about the work somebody did, the places they knew and the things that still give them pleasure, and we use that instead of correcting them. Families are kept properly informed and can visit whenever they want. We also offer respite stays for people whose regular carers need a break. Please contact us if you would like to come and look round.
