About Rawleigh House
Rawleigh House is a residential care home in Sherborne. We support older people who need daily care, adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, people with physical disabilities, people with a visual or hearing impairment, and younger adults. With a group that varied, one routine would suit nobody, so we do not run one. We work out what each person wants their days to look like and fit around it. Some people want company and things happening through the week; others want their own space and to be left to get on with things, with help within reach. We treat both as reasonable rather than as something to be managed. Where somebody has a sensory or physical impairment we pay close attention to the environment itself, because practical changes often do more for independence than extra support does. Respite stays are part of what we offer, giving family carers a proper rest and the person staying a change of scene. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was good. We keep checking our own work between inspections, since that is where standards are really held. If you are looking for a place for yourself or a relative, come and see us on an ordinary day, meet the people who live here and ask us whatever you want to know.
