About Lake View
Lake View is a residential care home in Newton Abbot, Devon. We support older people who need help with daily living, residents living with dementia, adults with a learning disability or autism, and people with a physical disability. We also offer respite stays for those who need care for a shorter period. We support a mix of people here, so we plan around individuals rather than categories. Residents choose when to get up, how to spend their time and what they eat. Meals are cooked on the premises and preferences are remembered. There is company and activity for those who want it and quiet for those who do not. Our dementia care rests on knowing people properly, learning a person's history and habits so that reassurance comes in a form they recognise. For residents with a learning disability or autism we adapt how we communicate to suit the individual, and we pay close attention to what helps someone feel settled and what causes them stress. We work closely with local GPs, community nurses and specialist teams so that health concerns are dealt with quickly, and we keep families and advocates properly involved. Visitors are welcome at any reasonable time. The Care Quality Commission most recently rated us good overall. If you are considering the home for yourself or someone close to you, please come and look round.
