About Primrose House

Primrose House is a residential care home in Bideford in Devon. We look after older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people whose sight or hearing is impaired, and we take respite guests as well as people moving in permanently. We are a home rather than a facility, and we try to make that obvious from the first visit. People arrange their own rooms as they please, keep their own routines, and are not expected to fit in with a timetable that suits the building. Some of the people living here have spent their whole lives in this part of Devon and it matters to them to stay close to the coast, to family and to the places they know. Our staff help with the practical side of things, washing, dressing, medication, meals and mobility, and they do it in a way that leaves people their privacy. For those living with dementia we keep the day steady and familiar and we make sure the people supporting somebody know their history properly, because that is what allows us to reassure a person rather than simply manage them. Where sight or hearing has changed we pay attention to the small adjustments that make a real difference, from lighting and contrast to making sure information is given in a way somebody can actually take in. The Care Quality Commission rated us good at our most recent inspection. Do come and see us and ask whatever you would like to ask.
