About Underhall Respite and Resource Centre
Underhall is a residential setting in Matlock, Derbyshire, providing respite stays and short term support for a wide range of adults. We work with older people and younger adults, people living with dementia, adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, people managing mental health conditions including eating disorders, people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment. A stay here might give a family carer a genuine rest, or give somebody time and support during a period when things at home have become difficult. Because people come and go, the temptation would be to run everything to a fixed routine, and we try to resist that. Each person arrives with their own way of doing things and a stay is planned around them. We arrange visits beforehand wherever we can, so that the building and the staff are familiar before anyone stays overnight. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather say so here than have someone discover it later. There is an agreed plan for the areas identified and we are working through it, and anyone considering us should ask us directly what has changed and what has not yet.
