About Whitestones Care Home
Whitestones is a residential care home in the High Peak. We support older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia or mental ill health, people with physical disabilities and people with sight or hearing loss. We plan around the person rather than the building. Before somebody moves in we ask how they have always run their day, what they want help with and what they would much rather do themselves, and we write it down so that it does not depend on who is on shift. Help with washing, dressing, mobility and medication is given discreetly and at the time that suits. For people living with dementia we keep the day familiar and unhurried, and we use what relatives tell us about a person's history rather than filing it away. Where mental ill health is part of the picture we work closely with community teams and include the person properly in decisions. Our most recent rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather be the ones to tell you. We have accepted the findings, we are working through the areas raised, and we are happy to go through the detail with anyone who asks. Short respite stays are available. Please come and see the house, ask us difficult questions, and judge us on the answers you get.
