About Tarry Hill
We are Tarry Hill, a residential care home in the High Peak area of Derbyshire. We support older people and younger adults, including adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, and we offer respite stays as well as permanent places. Having people of different ages and quite different needs living together works only if support is planned around individuals rather than run to a single routine. We spend real time at the start learning how a person communicates, what they can manage themselves, where they want help and what they would rather nobody did for them, and we revisit it as things change. Predictability matters a great deal, particularly for autistic people. Saying what will happen and when, and then being right about it, is worth more than reassurance. Where a routine matters to somebody we protect it rather than asking them to be flexible for our convenience. Choice runs through the day as far as it can. People decide how they spend their time, and where a decision needs support we support it rather than taking it over. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
