About Parklands Care Home
Parklands Care Home is a residential care home in Crook, County Durham. We are home to older people, including many who are living with dementia, and to younger adults who need residential care. We also offer respite stays for short periods. Most of the people who live here come from this part of Durham, and that shared background matters more than you might think. Familiar names, familiar places and familiar humour give people something to hold on to, and conversation over a brew does a great deal of good. Everyone here decides how their own day runs. When to get up and go to bed, what to eat, whether to join in with what is going on or keep to their room. People bring their own furniture and photographs and we help them make their room feel like theirs. For residents living with dementia we keep things calm, familiar and consistent, and we take the time to learn each person's history so that we can understand what they are telling us instead of simply managing the surface of it. Health needs are looked after alongside the local GP practice and community nurses, and we contact families early rather than late when something changes. The Care Quality Commission rated us good overall at our most recent inspection. If you are considering a care home in County Durham, please come and see us and speak to the people who live here.
