About Philiphaugh Manor
We are Philiphaugh Manor, a residential care home in St Columb, Cornwall. We support adults living with dementia, people living with mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and people with a visual or hearing impairment. Respite stays are available. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement, and we are not going to write around it. We have looked closely at what the inspection found, changed how we plan and record care, and strengthened the training and supervision of our staff. We are being held to account for the progress we make, and we talk about it openly with the people who live here and their families. What we are trying to protect while doing that work is the ordinary business of living here. People arrive with their own furniture, pictures and habits, and those come first. For people living with dementia, most of the useful work is in the detail: knowing somebody's history, recognising early what tends to unsettle them, and going at their pace rather than the rota's. Where somebody has a physical disability or a sight or hearing impairment, we give proper attention to access and communication. If you are considering Philiphaugh Manor, please visit and ask us about the rating. We would rather answer that directly than leave it unsaid.
