About Chypons Residential Home
Chypons Residential Home in Penzance provides care for older people, including those living with dementia and people managing mental health conditions. We are a home rather than an institution, and the difference shows in how the day runs. People choose when to get up and go to bed, where to spend their time and how much company they want, and they keep their own belongings around them. Staff help with washing and dressing, with moving about safely, with medication and with meals and drinks, and they do it without hurrying anybody. For those living with dementia we keep routines steady and surroundings familiar, adjust how we communicate rather than expecting the person to adjust to us, and treat distress as something to be understood rather than corrected. Meals are cooked here and there is a real choice. We know the people who live here well enough to notice when somebody is not themselves, and we involve the GP early rather than waiting for a small problem to grow. Respite and short stays can be arranged for families needing a break or people recovering after illness. If you would like to look round, please telephone us and we will arrange a time that suits you.
