About Clann House
We are a residential care home in Bodmin, caring for older people including those living with dementia and those with mental health needs. Cornwall is a place where people tend to have long roots, and many of those living here have spent their whole lives in the county. We think that matters. Knowing where someone worked, which village they grew up in and who used to visit on a Sunday gives us far more to work with than a list of tasks ever could, particularly when memory becomes unreliable. Our dementia care is built on calm and consistency. We keep surroundings familiar, avoid unnecessary change and train our team to respond to the emotion behind what someone is saying rather than correcting the detail. Distress usually has a cause, and finding it is part of the job. For people with mental health needs, we offer a steady routine, support with medicines and appointments, and staff who neither fuss nor withdraw when someone is struggling. We also offer respite stays, which give family carers a proper break and give the person staying a change of company and scenery. Short stays are planned as carefully as permanent ones. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Choosing a home for someone you love is difficult, and we would encourage anyone considering us to visit more than once, at different times of day, and to talk to the people who live here.
