About Orcadia
Orcadia is a residential care home near Stockport, supporting adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults. Most of those living here are younger adults, and we also offer respite stays. We are small, which means personal. It also means we are honest when somebody's needs would be better met somewhere with more to offer. Everyone here has a say in their room, the meals and how the household is run, and where somebody wants employment or education we treat it as central rather than optional. Predictability is something we take particularly seriously. For many of those living here, knowing exactly what is happening and who will be on shift is the difference between a settled day and a difficult one. Where somebody wants a job, a course or a club, that is the point of the support rather than an addition to it. It is usually the thing that makes the rest of the week worth organising. Respite guests are properly prepared for rather than simply accommodated. We ask in advance how a person likes things done, because a short stay leaves no room for guesswork. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We would rather show you the ordinary than arrange the impressive.
