About Clovelly House
Clovelly House is a residential care home in March. We look after older people who need help with daily living and who would rather have that help in a small, settled household than in a large institution. What we offer is fairly simple and we try to do it well. Help with washing, dressing and getting about, given in a way that protects somebody's dignity. Medication managed properly. Three meals a day that people are glad to sit down to, cooked here, with real choice at every one. Clean, warm rooms that people make their own with their own furniture and photographs. Company when it is wanted and quiet when it is not. We keep an eye on health without turning the house into a clinic. If someone seems off colour we act on it early, we involve the local surgery and the district nurses, and we tell families what is happening rather than waiting for them to ask. Respite stays are part of what we do, whether that is to give a relative a holiday, to help someone recover after a spell in hospital, or to let a person try us out before deciding anything permanent. Nobody should feel pushed. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated the home good overall. Anyone thinking about a move is welcome to visit, have a cup of tea and talk to the people who live here.
