About The Acres
We are The Acres, a residential care home in Manchester, within the borough of Bury. We provide a permanent home for older people and for younger adults who need support with daily life, and we also take respite stays for anyone who needs care for a short period, whether that is after a spell in hospital or to give a family carer a rest. The people who live here have a wide range of needs. We support adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, people living with a physical disability, and residents with visual or hearing impairment. Because those needs differ so much from one person to the next, we plan care individually rather than running everyone to the same routine. We take time to learn how someone prefers to be supported, what they can manage independently and where they want a hand, and we write that into the care plan and revisit it as things change. Day to day life here is meant to feel ordinary. People choose how they spend their time, keep their own belongings and habits around them, and see visitors when they wish. Communication matters a great deal in a home with this mix of needs, so we adapt how we share information to suit the person in front of us, and we keep families in the picture. We are registered with and inspected by the Care Quality Commission, and our most recent overall rating is requires improvement. We are working through the areas that inspection identified, and we are glad to talk openly with anyone considering a move here about what that means and what we are changing.
