About Reach April Cottage

Reach April Cottage is a residential care home in Slough. We support older people and adults of working age, including people living with a mental health condition and people with a physical disability, and we aim to offer a settled place to live rather than simply a placement. We plan support with each person rather than for them. That means agreeing what help is wanted, where somebody would prefer to manage alone, and what should happen on the days when things are harder. For people managing a mental health condition that planning matters a great deal, and we try to notice early when someone is struggling and to respond in the way they have told us works best for them. Practical independence is part of it too. Where somebody wants to cook, shop, get to appointments or keep up with work, study or family, we support that rather than doing it for them, adjusting for mobility and physical needs as required. We also provide respite stays, which can offer a planned break for a family carer or a period of extra support at a difficult time. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission and do not yet hold an overall rating, so we would encourage anyone considering us to come and look, ask direct questions and speak to the people who live here. We would far rather be judged on what you see than on what we say about ourselves.
