About Eton House Residential Home
Eton House Residential Home is a care home near Slough. We provide a home for older people, including many living with dementia, and we also support some younger adults and offer respite stays for shorter periods of care. We would rather be judged on ordinary things than on anything grand. Knowing how everybody likes their tea. Remembering which chair belongs to whom. Understanding who wants company from breakfast onwards and who would much rather be left with a newspaper. Helping somebody up when they wake rather than when it suits a rota. We ask about these preferences, write them down and expect them to be followed, because that is most of what makes a place feel like home instead of an institution. Dementia support is a large part of our work. Steady routines, familiar faces and patience do more good than anything else, along with a genuine effort to understand what somebody is telling us when words have become difficult. We treat distress as communication rather than as behaviour to be managed, and families are closely involved because they often hold the history that makes sense of the present. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is outstanding. That judgement came largely from what our residents and their families told the inspectors, which is why it means something to us. We do not treat it as finished business. If you are considering a home for a relative, please come and visit and judge us for yourself.
