About Visions
Visions is a residential care home in Bristol supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults. We are a household rather than an institution, and the people who live here have a real say in how their own home is run, from what goes on the shopping list to how the week is arranged. Support is planned one person at a time. Some of the people here need help with most parts of the day; others need very little practical help but rely on us for routine, encouragement and staff who understand how they communicate and what they find overwhelming. We take our time over that at the start and we ask the people who know somebody best. Everyday life covers the ordinary business of a household: cooking, shopping, laundry, keeping your own room how you like it, deciding what to do at the weekend and getting out into the city. We support people to do as much for themselves as they can and want to, which sometimes means standing back and letting a task take longer. Our staff are trained for the individuals they support, including communication and positive ways of responding when somebody is distressed, and we keep the team settled because familiarity does the real work. Respite stays are available and give family carers a proper break. Please get in touch if you would like to come and see the house.
