About The Old Vicarage

The Old Vicarage is a residential care home in Bristol. We support older people and younger adults, including people with a learning disability or autism, people living with mental health conditions and people with a physical disability, and we offer respite stays for those who need care for a shorter period. Supporting people of different ages and needs in one house works only if you plan for each of them properly. An older resident may want a settled routine and help close at hand. A younger adult may be working towards more independence and want support that stays out of the way until it is wanted. We write plans with the person, not for them, and we change them when life changes rather than when the calendar says to. Where somebody needs help to make a decision, we give it in whatever form works for them and we take the time it takes. Staff are asked to know people well, because knowing someone's usual self is what lets you notice early that they are unwell, uncomfortable or unhappy about something they find hard to say. Bristol is home for most of the people here, and we support them to keep up family contact, appointments and the places and groups they already belong to. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please visit and see the house as it is on a normal day.
