About Hyde Lodge

We are Hyde Lodge, a residential care home in Bristol supporting adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, and people with a physical disability. Many of the people who live here are younger adults. The home works rather like a shared household. People have their own rooms arranged the way they want them, the rest of the house belongs to everybody, and how things run is decided with the people living here rather than for them. We build support around the life each person wants. Some people want a full week of college, work or activities out in the community. Others want a settled rhythm at home with familiar company. Both are entirely reasonable, and our job is to make either work properly. Where somebody wants to take on more for themselves, whether that is cooking, handling money or travelling independently, we work at it at their pace and we do not assume a ceiling. Communication is the foundation of this work. We take the time to learn how each person expresses what they want, in whatever form that takes, and we make sure that knowledge is shared with every member of staff rather than held by one or two. We work closely with families, social workers and health professionals, and we offer respite stays as well as permanent places. Our most recent CQC overall rating is good. Please contact us if you would like to visit.
