About Edgewater
Edgewater is a nursing home in Wallasey on the Wirral, providing nursing and personal care for older people and for younger adults whose health needs go beyond what can reasonably be managed at home. We care for residents living with dementia, residents with mental health needs and residents with physical disabilities, and we offer respite stays for shorter periods. Qualified nurses are part of our team, which means a resident whose health becomes complex or changeable does not have to move on again to get the care they need. We work closely with doctors, district nurses, mental health colleagues and therapists whenever someone's condition alters, and clinical care is given with the same regard for privacy and dignity as every other part of the day. Dementia care shapes a great deal of what we do. We take time to learn a person's history, the people and places that matter to them and the rhythms that help them feel settled, because that knowledge is what allows us to reassure someone who is anxious rather than correct them. Mental health needs ask for the same patience and for noticing a change early rather than waiting for a crisis. Residents are asked about their work, their family, their faith and their food, and the day is built around those answers rather than the rota. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
