About Larchfield House
Larchfield House is a nursing home in Maidenhead. We care for older people who need nursing support, including those living with dementia, and we also support some younger adults. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Having registered nurses on site around the clock means clinical needs are met here rather than through repeated trips to hospital. Wound care, catheters, diabetes, pain relief and the gradual changes that come with frailty are managed by people who already know the person, in surroundings they know. Families can ring and speak to somebody who can actually tell them how their relative has been that day. Most of good nursing care is small things done reliably and on time. Pressure care that does not slip. Mouth care that is not skipped. Someone sitting with a person who is frightened in the night. We would rather be judged on those than on anything we could put in a brochure. The other half of the job is a life worth getting up for. Residents choose their routines, their rooms are their own, and nobody joins in with anything out of politeness. With dementia we keep the surroundings calm and familiar, keep staffing as consistent as we can, and treat distress as something with a cause. Respite stays suit people needing nursing input briefly and family carers needing a real break. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and visit Larchfield House.
