About Lakeside Nursing & Residential Home
Lakeside is a nursing and residential home in Standish providing care for older people and younger adults, with registered nurses on duty at all hours. Having both nursing and residential care under one roof matters, because it means that when somebody's health changes they do not automatically have to move somewhere new. People can stay in the place they know, with the staff they know, while the level of care around them goes up. Our team helps with the ordinary things, washing, dressing, moving about safely, medication, meals and drinks, and the nursing side covers wound care, support with long term conditions and clinical monitoring. We work with local GPs and community teams so that changes in health are picked up early. We want the home to feel lived in rather than clinical. Rooms are personalised, visitors are welcome, meals are cooked here and there is company in the day for those who want it. Staff are encouraged to sit and talk, because that is not a break from the work, it is part of it. Respite and short stays can be arranged for people needing care for a limited period or families needing a break. If you are looking at homes in the Wigan area, please ring us and arrange to come and see.
