About Belong Atherton Care Village
Belong Atherton Care Village is a nursing home in the Wigan area of Greater Manchester. We support older people and younger adults who need nursing care, including people living with dementia, a physical disability, a sensory impairment or a mental health condition, and we take respite stays as well as permanent ones. Being a village rather than simply a building shapes how we work. People live in small households rather than long corridors, which means meals, company and daily routines happen at a domestic scale. Someone can potter, join in or keep to themselves, and staff are close enough to notice when something is not right without hovering. Nursing is on hand around the clock, which allows us to support people whose health needs are considerable and changing. It also means that when someone becomes unwell, the first response usually happens here rather than in an ambulance. Dementia support is central to what we do. We work from who the person has been, not only from what they can currently manage, and we give people room to move, to be occupied and to have a purpose in the day. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is outstanding. We are proud of it and aware of how easily standards slip if a team starts coasting, so we keep listening to residents, families and staff. Visitors are always welcome. Come and see how the village works before you decide anything.
