About The Croft Nursing Home (Barrow)
We are The Croft Nursing Home in Barrow In Furness, and we provide nursing care for adults who need clinical support alongside help with daily living. Having registered nurses on site around the clock means that changing health needs can be picked up early and managed calmly, without someone having to move elsewhere every time their condition shifts. A good deal of our work is with people who have a learning disability or who are autistic, and with adults living with a physical disability. We also support younger adults, and that shapes how the home feels day to day. People here are at very different stages of life, with their own routines, interests and ways of communicating, so we take the time to learn what matters to each person rather than fitting everyone into the same pattern. For some that means a predictable routine and a quiet space to retreat to. For others it means getting out into Barrow and the wider Westmorland and Furness area as often as possible. We also offer respite care, whether that is planned in advance to give a family carer a proper break or arranged at shorter notice after a spell in hospital. Respite stays are treated with the same care and attention as longer term ones. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We are glad of that, but the thing we pay closest attention to is whether the people living here feel settled, listened to and well looked after. Families are welcome to visit, ask questions and tell us when something could be better.
