About Fairburn Mews
We are a nursing home in Castleford, providing care for people who need the support of qualified nurses on site at every hour of the day and night. That clinical backing sits quietly in the background; what people notice day to day is a house where they are known by name and where their own routines still count for something. We support older people and also younger adults whose health needs mean that nursing care at home is no longer practical. Some of the people who live with us have complex physical disabilities, and our nurses and carers work alongside therapists, district nurses and hospital teams to keep treatment joined up rather than fragmented. We also care for people living with mental health needs, and we try to be patient, steady company on the harder days rather than simply managing a condition. Respite stays are part of what we do. A planned break can make the difference between a family carer coping and a family carer reaching the end of their reserves, and a short stay can also be a gentle way to find out whether a nursing home is the right step. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We would rather hear early and honestly when something has fallen short, so we ask residents and their families regularly and we act on what they tell us. If you would like to look round, please get in touch and we will find a time that suits you.
