About Hills
Surrey Hills is a nursing home in Godalming. We care for older people and younger adults whose needs include nursing, including many living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people living with sight or hearing loss. We offer respite stays as well. Nursing on site means health needs are met by people who already know the person, which usually means problems are noticed sooner. It also means nobody has to move on because their condition has progressed. The clinical side is only a part of a day and usually the smaller part. The rest is ordinary life, and we protect it deliberately: food people want, fresh air, prompt help, privacy, and being spoken to as somebody with a working life and a family rather than a set of conditions. Having younger residents alongside older ones means we plan individually. A single programme would suit almost nobody. We also try to get right how we talk to families. Relatives often know things no assessment captures, so we ask them, and we ring with small news rather than letting it be discovered on a visit. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. What would tell you more is watching how long somebody waits after ringing a bell, so do come and see.
