About Manor
Camberley Manor is a nursing home in Camberley in Surrey. We care for older people and younger adults who need nursing support, including people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people living with sight or hearing loss. Respite stays are available. With qualified nurses here at all hours, we can care for people whose needs are clinically real and keep caring for them as those needs change. Wounds, pain, continence, nutrition, medication and moving safely are all managed here, and a good deal that would otherwise mean a trip to hospital can be dealt with at home instead. Families frequently tell us that not having to move again was what mattered most in the end. What we watch for is the way clinical care can quietly turn somebody into a round of tasks, so ordinary courtesies get as much attention as medical ones. People decide when they get up, what they wear, what they eat and how the afternoon goes. We knock, we explain, and we wait to be told it is all right to go ahead. Dementia asks for a familiar day above anything we could add, and where sight or hearing loss is part of the picture the small habits carry the weight: saying who you are as you come in, leaving furniture where it belongs, checking that glasses and hearing aids are working. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall, and we keep asking residents and families where we fall short.
