About Garden Hill Care Centre
Garden Hill Care Centre is a nursing home in South Shields, with registered nurses on duty around the clock alongside our care team. We look after older people whose health needs require nursing, younger adults with nursing needs, and people living with dementia. People generally come to us when their needs have grown beyond what residential care or support at home can safely meet. The nursing covers management of long term conditions, wound and skin care, continence support, help where eating and swallowing have become difficult, and careful oversight of medication. We work closely with local GPs, district nurses, dietitians and therapists. Dementia care here rests on steadiness. Familiar staff, a predictable shape to the day, and rooms that are easy to make sense of do more to settle somebody than anything else available to us, and we plan around that rather than around timetables that look good on paper. Respite stays are available. Our most recent rating from the Care Quality Commission is good, and visitors are welcome.
