About Oaktree Care Home
Oaktree Care Home is a nursing home in Bristol, on the South Gloucestershire side of the city. Qualified nurses are on duty here at every hour rather than visiting, and people generally come to us when health needs have grown past what a residential home or a family at home could safely manage. Most of the people living with us are older adults and a large proportion are living with dementia. Many have a physical disability and need daily help with moving and positioning, and some are blind, partially sighted, deaf or hard of hearing. We also support younger adults whose health needs call for nursing. Where sight or hearing has gone, an ordinary building starts working against a person, so we pay attention to light, contrast, noise and the way staff approach somebody rather than simply arriving at the bedside. We say what we are about to do before we do it. The nursing is thorough and unhurried, covering medicines, wounds, pain, pressure care and making sure people eat and drink enough. What no procedure covers is noticing early when somebody is not themselves, and that rests on continuity of staff. Respite admissions are available alongside permanent places. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Come and look round and bring the questions you are reluctant to ask.
