About Edgemont View Nursing Home
Edgemont View is a nursing home near Bristol, with qualified nurses on duty at all times. We care for older people, and we offer respite stays as well as permanent places. People usually come to us when health needs have grown beyond what support at home or a residential home can meet, and our task is to meet those needs without letting them become the whole of somebody's life. Nursing here means consistent attention to the things that keep a person comfortable and well: medicines, mobility, nutrition and hydration, skin, continence and pain. We work with GPs, district nurses and specialists early rather than waiting for a problem to become urgent, and we talk things over with the person and their family instead of handling them quietly in the background. Families tell us that honest conversation matters more than reassurance, and we try to give them that. Around that, ordinary life carries on. People rise when they wake, sit where they choose, keep their own furniture and photographs about them, and eat food that suits their taste as well as any clinical need. Visitors are welcome and we would far rather families came often and casually. When somebody is nearing the end of life we aim to be honest, present and unhurried with them and with the people who love them. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall.
