About Cooksons Court
Cooksons Court is a nursing home in Yeovil. We care for older people and younger adults with nursing needs, including people living with dementia and people with sight or hearing loss, and we offer respite and short stays. Qualified nurses are here at all times, which means health needs are met on site rather than through repeated trips to hospital. We manage complex medication, continence and wound care, long term conditions and end of life care, and we notice early when someone is becoming unwell. The nursing side is the foundation, not the point. Our residents live here, and we are judged by whether their days are good ones. That means food people actually want to eat, time to talk, familiar routines, music, gardens, visitors welcome whenever they come, and staff who are not too busy to sit down. For residents living with dementia we keep things steady and unhurried and we pay attention to what calms a particular person. Where sight or hearing is failing we work on lighting, contrast, sound and equipment so that people stay part of what is going on rather than drifting out of it. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is outstanding. We are proud of it, and we are clear that it describes how we were when inspectors visited rather than a permanent state of affairs, so we keep working at it. Yeovil families are welcome to look round at any time.
