About Burgess Manor
Burgess Manor is a nursing home in Southport, providing nursing and personal care for older people and for younger adults whose health needs go beyond what can reasonably be managed at home. We support residents living with dementia, residents with mental health needs, residents with physical disabilities, residents with visual or hearing impairment, people living with an eating disorder and people recovering from problems with alcohol or drugs. We also offer respite stays for shorter periods. Having qualified nurses in the team means a resident whose health becomes complex or changeable does not have to move on again. We work closely with doctors, district nurses, mental health colleagues and therapists whenever someone's condition alters, and clinical care is given with the same regard for privacy and dignity as every other part of the day. With needs this varied, we plan support one person at a time. Dementia care asks for familiarity and reassurance rather than correction. Mental health needs, eating disorders and recovery all ask for patience and for noticing a change early rather than waiting for a crisis. For residents with sensory loss we adapt how we communicate and how shared spaces are arranged. Residents are asked about their history, their work, their family, their faith and their food, and the day is built from those answers. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
