About Freshfields
Freshfields is a nursing home in the Sefton area of Liverpool. We provide nursing care for older people and younger adults, and we support people living with dementia, adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people with a physical disability and people managing a mental health condition. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Combining nursing with support for people who have a learning disability takes particular skill. It means following somebody's health closely enough to catch a problem early, while remembering that the person is not a set of conditions and is entitled to an ordinary life with things in it worth getting up for. We work at both at once. Because a number of the people we support do not use speech, or use it only in some situations, we spend real time learning how each person communicates. Pain and unhappiness are often expressed through behaviour rather than words, and a team that reads those signs correctly prevents a great deal of avoidable suffering. Nurses are on duty at all hours, so health needs are managed on site and changes are noticed by people who know the person. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and visit if you are considering a placement here.
