About Vale House
Vale House is a nursing home in Oxford, caring for older people whose health needs have gone beyond what can be managed comfortably at home. Having qualified nurses here at every hour means changes in somebody's condition are picked up early and handled calmly, which often spares a person an avoidable hospital admission. A large part of our work is with people living with dementia. We keep the day unhurried and predictable, we make sure people see faces they recognise and we pay attention to the details that anchor somebody, a favourite chair, a particular time for tea, the music they have always liked. Families often tell us that what reassures them most is walking in and finding their relative settled and occupied rather than waiting. We also care for younger adults, planning their day around their own interests. Respite care is available too, for people recovering after illness and for family carers who need a break. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We take that as a foundation rather than a finish. Please come and look round, meet the team and ask us whatever you want to know.
