About Valerian Court
Valerian Court is a nursing home in Didcot in Oxfordshire. We care for older people and younger adults who need nursing support, including people living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions and people with physical disabilities. Respite stays are available. Having qualified nurses on site around the clock means people whose health is genuinely complicated can stay with us as things change, rather than being moved on at the point familiarity counts for most. Wounds, pain, continence, nutrition, medication and safe movement are all managed properly here, and a good deal that might otherwise involve hospital does not have to. Because our residents have very different needs, we plan care person by person. What settles somebody with dementia is not what helps somebody living with a long standing mental health condition, and one routine across everybody suits nobody in particular. We also guard against clinical care quietly turning a person into a schedule. People choose when they get up, what they wear, what is on the plate and how the afternoon goes. We knock, we explain what we are about to do, and we wait to be told it is all right. We have not yet been given an overall rating by the Care Quality Commission. You are welcome to visit, look around properly and ask us whatever you need to.
