About Melbourne House
We are Melbourne House, a nursing home in Nottingham. We care for older people and for younger adults with nursing needs, including people living with dementia, people managing a mental health condition, and people with a physical disability or a visual or hearing impairment. That is a broad group, and having qualified nurses on duty around the clock is what makes it possible. Health problems are picked up early by staff who know the person, treatment begins without waiting for an outside visit, and families are not left wondering what cover exists overnight. The nursing is essential but it is the background rather than the purpose. People live here, and we work at making that a proper life. Rooms are personalised, people get up and settle when they choose, and meals are something to look forward to. Staff take time to learn how somebody communicates and what their life was like before they needed care. For those living with dementia we work patiently and with the person's history in view. Where somebody is managing a mental health condition, we work calmly and keep in close contact with community teams and GPs. Relatives are welcome whenever they want to come and we keep them properly informed. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Our most recent CQC overall rating is good. Please contact us to arrange a visit.
