About The Dales
The Dales is a nursing home in Skipton. We provide qualified nursing care alongside daily support for older people and for younger adults with nursing needs, including people living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions and people with a physical disability. Respite admissions are available for planned short stays and for people recovering after a hospital admission. Having nurses on duty means that health is looked after where people live. Medication, wound and pressure area care, continence support, management of long term conditions and careful support at the end of life are all part of ordinary life here, and we work closely with visiting general practitioners, district nursing teams, community mental health teams and therapists so that changes are acted on early rather than late. Clinical competence is the floor, not the ceiling. We take trouble over meals, over how somebody is helped to dress in the morning and over whether a person who has always risen at six can carry on doing so. Rooms hold people's own furniture and photographs where there is space, and visitors are welcome without ceremony. For residents living with dementia we keep the day steady and familiar and take our lead from the person rather than correcting them.
