About Thistle Hill Care Centre
Thistle Hill Care Centre is a nursing home in Knaresborough. We care for older people and younger adults who need qualified nursing on the premises, including people living with dementia and people with physical disabilities, and we also offer respite stays. Having nurses here at all hours means that changing health, skin and wound care, complicated medication and support at the end of life can be managed here, with the GP and community teams, rather than by moving someone at the point they would least want to move. It also means deterioration tends to be noticed early. Around the nursing, this is a place where people live. We ask what an ordinary day looked like before someone came to us and try to protect the parts that mattered, whether that is a particular chair, a walk outside, the radio on first thing or being left in peace until they are ready. Where dementia makes conversation difficult, knowing the person is what carries us, and families are the best source of that knowledge. Relatives are welcome to visit, to join in and to ask us questions, and we would far rather hear about a concern straight away than have it saved up. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are considering nursing care in Knaresborough or nearby in North Yorkshire, please ring and arrange a visit.
