About Greenwell House Care Home
Greenwell House is a nursing home in Bedale caring for older people. Qualified nurses are on duty at every hour of the day and night, working alongside carers who know the people living here well. Most families come to us at the point when nursing care has become necessary, often after a difficult few months. We try to make the move as settled as we can: learning how somebody likes their day to run, keeping the faces around them consistent, and giving relatives a clear account of how their family member is rather than leaving them to guess. Nursing here means pain relief, wound care and changing health needs are attended to promptly and properly. It also means our nurses take time over the things that are not clinical at all, such as whether somebody is eating enough, sleeping badly or simply feeling low. Meals are cooked on the premises and adapted where swallowing or appetite is a difficulty. This is a rural part of North Yorkshire and many people here have lived locally all their lives, so we keep those connections going wherever we can. Visitors are welcome at any reasonable hour. Short stays are available, often when a carer at home needs a rest or somebody needs nursing support after illness. Our most recent rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please ring us to arrange a visit.
