About Heatherfield Care Home
We are a nursing home in Cramlington, caring for people whose health needs call for qualified nurses on hand throughout the day and night. Having that expertise in the building means treatment, medication and changes in someone's condition are picked up quickly, and it also means families can set down a level of responsibility that had become exhausting. A good deal of our work is with people living with dementia. We have found that what helps is not clever technique but consistency, unhurried time and staff who know a person well enough to read what a look or a gesture is saying. Days here are not run to a timetable for its own sake, and someone who wants a slow morning is welcome to have one. We also care for people with physical disabilities, working closely with therapists and community health teams so that equipment, positioning and comfort are properly thought through rather than left to chance. Respite stays are available for people who need nursing care for a short period, whether that is to give a family carer a genuine rest or to allow someone to recover after a spell in hospital. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We keep asking residents and relatives what could be better, because the useful feedback rarely arrives on an inspection day. You would be very welcome to visit and see the place for yourself before making any decisions.
