About Oaklands Care Home
We are Oaklands Care Home, a nursing home in Weston Super Mare, North Somerset. We provide nursing care for adults, including younger adults and people living with mental ill health, with registered nurses on duty around the clock. That means medication, health needs and the everyday monitoring that keeps small problems from becoming serious ones are handled here by people who see each person daily and notice when something is different. Many of the people we support have complex needs and want a life that is not defined by them, and that shapes how we work. We assist with personal care, mobility and health needs in a way that leaves as much control as possible with the individual, and we plan the day around what somebody actually wants to do rather than around what is convenient for the rota. Where a person is living with mental ill health, our approach is to be consistent and unhurried, and not to judge anybody's history. We also offer respite stays, which give family carers a genuine break and can help somebody regain confidence after a spell in hospital before returning home. We prepare for short stays carefully so that nobody arrives to a room full of strangers. Our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection rated us good overall. Relatives and friends are welcome whenever they wish to come, and we would encourage anyone considering Oaklands to visit and see how the place feels.
