About Felix House
We are a nursing home in Weston Super Mare, providing nursing care for adults living with mental health conditions, including eating disorders, and for people living with dementia or physical disabilities. We support younger adults as well as older people, and we also take respite bookings where a period of nursing care is what is needed. Nursing care and mental health care are often spoken about as separate things, and for the people we support they are not. Somebody may have physical health needs that require qualified nursing attention and, at the same time, need surroundings that are calm, predictable and free of the pressure that makes everything harder. Holding both together is the work. Eating disorders in particular need care that is neither casual nor coercive, and they need staff who understand the condition rather than simply the mealtime. We plan with the person wherever we can, alongside the professionals already involved, and we expect plans to change, because recovery and stability are not tidy processes. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are a family member or a professional looking for a placement, we are happy to talk in detail about whether we would be the right setting for a particular person, and we would rather say no at the start than take on something we cannot do well. Please get in touch.
