About Brockfield House
Brockfield House is a nursing home in Wellingborough, with registered nurses on duty around the clock alongside our care team. We look after people living with dementia and people living with mental health conditions who also have nursing needs. Having nursing on site means health needs can be met here rather than requiring somebody to move again when their condition changes. The nursing covers management of long term conditions, wound and skin care, continence support, help where eating and swallowing have become difficult, and careful oversight of medication. Dementia care here rests on steadiness. Familiar staff, a predictable shape to the day, and rooms that are easy to make sense of do more to settle somebody than anything else available to us. We take the view that behaviour is nearly always communication, and the useful question is what somebody is trying to tell us rather than how to stop it. Where a person is also managing a mental health condition, a calm household matters as much as any clinical intervention. Respite stays are available. Our most recent rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
