About Acacia House
Acacia House in Tenterden is a nursing home in Kent. We provide nursing care for older people, including those living with dementia, and for people with physical disabilities, and we welcome respite guests alongside those living here permanently. Registered nurses are on duty at every hour, which means medication, wound care, continence and long term conditions are looked after here rather than through repeated trips to hospital. We work closely with local GPs, community nurses and therapists, and where somebody is approaching the end of life we concentrate on comfort, dignity and making sure families know what is happening and feel supported through it. Good nursing is not the whole of it though. When somebody moves in we want to know about their life as well as their health, the work they did, the people who matter, what they like to eat and whether they would rather be up early or left in peace. That is what allows the care here to be about a person rather than a set of needs. For people living with dementia we keep the day familiar and unhurried and we keep staff teams as consistent as we can, because recognising a face does more for confidence than anything else we can arrange. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Visitors are welcome at any reasonable time, and we would far rather you came and looked than took our word for anything.
