About Russell Court Nursing Home
Russell Court Nursing Home is in Longfield, Kent. We care for older people who need registered nursing as well as help with everyday life, including people with physical disabilities. Having nurses on duty at any hour is the practical reason most people come to us. It allows us to manage complex medication, skin and pressure care, continence and nutrition, and to keep a steady watch on health so that changes are caught while they are still small. Where somebody is nearing the end of their life, it means we can keep them comfortable here, among people who know them, rather than moving them somewhere strange. The clinical side is only part of the job. A nursing home can slip very easily into being a place where everything is done to people and almost nothing is chosen by them, and we push against that. Residents decide when they get up, what they eat, whether they join in and who visits. For people with a physical disability, what matters most is time. Transfers, positioning and personal care take as long as they take, and rushing is where both dignity and safety are lost. Respite and short stays are available, whether for a planned break for a family carer or for somebody regaining strength after hospital. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please ring us to arrange a visit to Russell Court.
