About Haydon-Mayer
We are a nursing home in Herne Bay, Kent. We support older people whose needs include nursing care, including many living with dementia, and we offer respite stays. Having registered nurses as part of the team means people whose health needs are complex can stay with us as those needs change rather than having to move on again. The clinical side is only part of a day though, and usually the smaller part. The rest is meals people want to eat, help that arrives without a long wait, privacy when it is wanted, company when it is not, and being spoken to as somebody with a working life and a family rather than as a set of conditions. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather write that here than have a family find it elsewhere and wonder why we did not mention it. We accept what was identified and we are working through it, and we are not going to claim in a paragraph that everything is resolved, because that is not something we could honestly promise. Anybody considering us should visit without an appointment, speak to residents and relatives away from staff, and press us for specifics about what has changed.
